Contractors need to seek out workers who have some idea about the kinds of work they will be doing, who are trainable, have good communications skills so they can talk to customers and contractors, and be able to write legible reports that wil be acceptable if they are ever used as evidence in a court case.
The theme of this issue of The Driller is "Challenges Facing the 21st Century Contractor," and our sudden surge of frigid weather has made me think how the weather has been and continues to be a challenge for drillers.
One of the best ways for drillers to keep up-to-date on industry developments and share ideas with other drillers is to become involved in stat e and national drilling organizations.
