How to Know when PHPA Polymer Runs Out in Heavy Clay

October 14, 2021

Host and The Driller contributing writer Brock Yordy discusses the “art of mud mixing.” Specifically, he addresses a question about maintaining the properties of fluids enhanced with PHPA polymers while drilling heavy clays. It’s Ask Brock, episode 131.

“If we have clay, shales coming out that are jagged, and we can break them open and they’re dry on the inside, they’re not getting sticky. We still have active polymer in the system,” Yordy says.

This episode also touches on maintaining fluids properties, solids control units, mud pans and other topics. Click the video to hear more.
