Episode 144 of Ask Brock, host and The Driller contributor Brock Yordy takes his first question from Africa — specifically Gabon, a country on the west coast right on the Equator. Richard sent in a question as old as modern well drilling: How do you troubleshoot a well that pumps sand?
“We need to get a sample of that sand, and do a sieve analysis,” he says. Beyond that, he wonders about specifics of the water well’s construction.
“Once we understand where the sand is coming from, we can try to mitigate it,” Yordy says. “It may be an option that we have to abandon that hole and start a whole new construction so that we can isolate that out better.”
He also talks about pumps, screens, well seating and well troubleshooting resources. Check out today’s episode to hear more.
