If you hang around veteran drillers, it’s not uncommon to see injuries, from repetitive stress and strains to hearing issues, and all the way up to missing digits and beyond. What lessons can those folks pass on to help others just getting started have long, injury-free careers in drilling? Host and drill trainer Brock Yordy weighs in on episode 120 of Ask Brock.
“For some reason, we have this culture that has said that, in order to get jobs done, you’re going to have to have some pain,” Yordy says.
“We don’t have to do that. We don’t have to overexert ourselves. We can work smarter. We can come up with best practices.”
In this episode, he talks about lifting and overexertion; fatigue and taking breaks; repetitive stress; heat exhaustion and hydration. He also gives a shout-out to the South Atlantic Jubilee organizers and he and The Driller staff prepare to head out for the 2021 event in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Click above to hear more.
