Equipment manufacturer and service provider Boart Longyear displayed their LS600 Sonic Rig and SV600 Support Vehicle at the recent Conexpo 2020 event in Las Vegas.
“Boart Longyear has products and services we believe will interest people who have construction or blasting applications, as well as those who use or specify drills for environmental, production or exploration projects,” says Pat Nill, vice president of global products. “This year we are featuring one of our sonic rigs — the LS600. We’re confident this rig will be interesting to those who may already be doing sonic drilling, and engineering firms wanting a waterless, lower disturbance, lower dust way to drill for samples on construction or environmental jobs. We love sharing our greatest innovations with customers and industry professionals and discussing how we can help on all sorts of projects.”
The company says the LS600 drills deeper, produces more accurate samples and serves more markets than any other sonic drilling rig. In addition to complementary equipment like the SV600 Support Vehicle, Boart Longyear also offers sonic tooling. The company says its tooling is made of high-quality, precision steels subjected to special heat treatment processes, providing stability, straightness and durability for the sonic drill string assembly.
Boart Longyer also displayed the StopeMate pneumatic production drill, which is small enough to load into a lift cage. This drill is capable of drilling 51- to 76-milimeter holes, accommodates drilling depths of 12 to 25 meters, and can be quickly disassembled and reassembled to gain access to captive areas.
Boart Longyear, based in Salt Lake City, offers drilling services, equipment and performance tooling for the mining industry. The company has more than 9,000 employees worldwide, manufactures equipment in six global factories, and sells to customers in more than 100 countries.
