GRL Engineers Inc. has opened a new office – its 10th branch – in the Houston metro area. The new location opened its doors to business on March 16.
The office was added in an effort to better serve the needs of the company’s growing client base in Texas, according to Pat Hannigan, president of GRL Engineers.
Like others, it will provide dynamic testing services (PDA) on driven pile foundations along with dynamic load testing (DLT), thermal integrity profiling (TIP), crosshole sonic logging (CSL), and low strain integrity testing (PIT) services for drilled shafts and augered cast-in-place piles. Services will also include wave equation analysis and SPT Hammer and Becker Drill calibration among other things.
Brandon Phetteplace will staff the office and Camilo Alvarez will manage it. Together, the two bring more than 22 years of experience in dynamic testing and deep foundations quality assurance methods to the new space. Phetteplace and Alvarez hold master level certificates on the PDCA/PDI Dynamics Measurement and Analysis Proficiency Test.
Alvarez has a master’s degree in civil engineering from Case Western Reserve University. In addition to managing the Texas office, he manages the Colorado and California branches. Phetteplace received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
