Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based MWI Pumps, which makes a variety of high-volume pumps, recently upgraded its Vero Beach, Fla., repair facility.
The company bought a King 72-inch vertical mill. The new mill will allow Moving Water Industries to overhaul pumps sized up to 72 inches, doubling the facility's previous size capacity.
“This new piece of equipment will accelerate our process,” commented MWI Pump Rental Division Manager John Springer. “It allows us to speed up repair time by 25 percent.”
Previously, larger pump repairs had to be shipped to the company's headquarters in Deerfield Beach, which are about 100 miles south. MWI's facility in Deerfield Beach services pumps up to 120 inches in diameter.
The company prides itself of reducing customer downtime so saving the repair trip to the headquarters was important, as is MWI's backup unit rental.
“Only a few companies provide rental pumps while repairing the damaged systems,” Springer said. “We have a large fleet of rental pumps that can handle up to 100,000 gallons per minute available to our customers while their pumps are being repaired.”
MWI's repair division handles repairs and other service for pumps used in flood control, irrigation, agriculture and other applications. The facility also offers pump rebuilds, testing and training.
