The Deep Foundations Institute has named Andrew Verity chairman of the group’s Driven Pile Committee. It’s one of the DFI’s 15 technical committees.

Verity succeeds Clayton Signor of TXPile.

Verity works as a project engineer-piling at Gerdau Long Steel North America. He has a bachelor degree in civil engineering from the University of London’s Queen Mary College. Verity started his professional career in Paris as a design engineer for Reinforced Earth Company. He worked as a consultant in geotechnical engineering, designing ground investigations, retaining walls and other foundations works. Major projects he has been part of include the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. He took a role at Gerdau in 2012 promoting the company’s piling products. He’s active in the DFI, and other professional groups including the Pile Driving Contractors Association, United States Society on Dams, Transportation Research Board and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

The DFI’s technical committees focus on issues specific to subsets of the foundation drilling and engineering sector, including drilled shafts, driven piles, ground improvements, marine foundations, helical piles and tiebacks, slurry walls and other areas. Individual committees work to keep the broad DFI membership and the industry current on practices and techniques. This is done with publications, papers, educational events and periodic reports in the DFI’s Deep Foundations magazine.
