Raymond
"RC" Hoover, 92, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Zion, Ill., died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Banner Boswell
Medical Center
in Sun City, Ariz.
Hoover was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Moody County, S.D.,
the last surviving child of William and Mary Hoover. He married Gladys Hazel on
Jan. 4, 1940, in Franklin, Ky.
Hoover served
with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater in World War II as a Seabee.
He was founder and owner of Hoover Well Service in Zion. Also, he was a member of Zion’s Loyal Order of the
Moose #667.
Hoover volunteered for 12 years at the V.A. clinic in Sun City. He was a member of the Sun Village
Community Church
in Surprise, Ariz. Industrious throughout his life, he loved to fish and hunt.
Hoover was a loving husband, father,
grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 71 years,
Gladys; three sons, Lonny (Barb) Hoover of Urbana, Ill., Earl (Ros) Hoover of
Libertyville, Ill., and Daniel (Pat) Hoover of Broomfield, Colo.; seven
grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his father and mother, one brother and three sisters.
