The American Water Works Association (AWWA) has announced
four new scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students interested in
working in the water industry. The scholarships are available to students
pursuing higher education degrees in the United
States, Canada
and Puerto Rico; the application deadline is
May 10, 2010.
The scholarship program was developed as an opportunity for
AWWA and its partners to help the water community prepare for a projected
workforce shortage over the next 10 years, by supporting students who have
shown an interest in the industry. Scholarship sponsors include American Water,
Black & Veatch, Malcolm Pirnie and MWH.
Each of the scholarships will award the selected student $5,000.
Winners will be announced by June 1, and will be publicly recognized at AWWA’s
Annual Conference later that month.
