Schramm Hosts a Three-day Rig Service Seminar

Schramm Inc., manufacturer of portable drilling rigs serving the water, oil and gas, mineral exploration and geothermal industries, recently held a 3-day drill rig service seminar at its factory headquarters in West Chester, Pa.

Participants received instruction on proper operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of the various Schramm drilling rigs used in all applications including water well, geothermal, mining and mineral exploration. Special attention was given to industry best practices in rig maintenance, service and safety. The course instructors have more than 100 years of combined drilling industry experience. WQA Honors Clack

The Water Quality Association presented Richard Clack of the Clack Corp., Windsor, Wis., with its prestigious Hall of Fame Award at the association’s recent annual convention and trade show. The award is given for “lifetime dedication and service to the water quality improvement industry, and extensive participation and unfailing support for the betterment of the association.” WQA states: “Established in 1947, Clack Corp. is a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of water treatment components and equipment. In addition to helping guide the operations of this major company, Richard Clack has energetically worked to promote our entire industry. Simply put, Rich has been one of WQA’s strongest advocates and supporters. He has served on many committees that have created policy and new initiatives for the association for many years. Anyone taking part in discussions about our future has seen Rich’s commitment.”

A.I. McDermott's 65th Annual Meeting

The A.I. McDermott Co. of Oshkosh, Wis., hosted its 65th Annual Dealer Meeting earlier this spring. More than 300 McDermott customers, suppliers and friends enjoyed manufacturer displays, seminars, specials and great food and prizes. Manufacturer representatives, state regulators and a representative from Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy were featured speakers.

Company president Tom McDermott Jr. welcomed the McDermott dealers reminding them that, “Your neighbors rely on you to be the experts in your field – knowledgeable about the wells you drill and the systems you install and service. Likewise, McDermott aims to be the experts you look to for the equipment and supplies you need to do your jobs.”

The manufacturer dis-play area was busy all day with more than 35 booth exhibits. New pro-ducts and technologies were introduced and explained, including the ComfortAire geothermal equipment line, Pentek’s new Intellidrive water system control, and A.O. Smith’s new lineup of energy-efficient water heaters. Continuing education classes, regulatory code updates, seminars on wastewater controls, tankless gas water heaters, poly septic tanks, peat filters and variable-frequency drives for private water systems were conducted during the day.

In Memoriam: Lyle Henry

Travis Roberts, project manager for Roberts Environmental Drilling Inc., Millstadt, Ill., writes:

I’m saddened to say that Lyle Henry, my grandfather, passed away [last month]. Grandpa not only worked as a salesmen for CME for more than 25 years, he and grandma became friends to many drillers all over the United States.

SJE-Rhombus Adds Wilfong

SJE-Rhombus, manufacturer of liquid-level controls for the water/wastewater industry, has expanded its sales force by hiring Brett Wilfong as its eastern regional sales manager.
