The National Ground Water Association's conference, "Groundwater for the Americas," scheduled June 8-10 in Panama City, Panama, is designed to facilitate dialogue among Latin American peoples about how they can best manage their water resources in the context of socioeconomic, environmental and cultural realities.

Co-sponsors of the conference are the International Association of Hydrogeologists and Asociacion Venezolana de la Industria de las Aguas Subterraneas (Venezuelan Association of the Groundwater Industry).

Confirmed conference speakers represent most Latin American countries, in addition to North and South America. Session topics are to include environmental and ecological impacts on ground water sustainability, ground water contamination, potable water supplies, impacts of effective ground water management on women and children in developing countries, and transboundary ground water issues.
