Boart Longyear Buys Westrod Engineering
Boart Longyear Ltd. has announced that it has acquired Westrod Engineering, an
Australian-based manufacturer of reverse circulation (RC) rods, subs and
swivels for minerals drilling.
The acquisition expands Boart Longyear’s existing minerals exploration product offering, and complements the recent acquisition of KWL, a Perth-based RC and multi-purpose drill rig manufacturer. The addition of Westrod Engineering’s product line is expected to increase Boart Longyear’s revenues by approximately $7 million.
“As part of our strategic growth plan, the Westrod Engineering acquisition positions us to significantly increase our presence in RC drilling,” says Craig Kipp, Boart Longyear’s president. “We anticipate increasing production output, and have plans for global distribution of these products as we continue the growth of our RC business.”
