The GHPsRUS Project, with "GHPsRUS" short for "Geothermal heat pumps are U.S.," is a three-year effort to measure the costs and benefits of nationwide geothermal heat pump deployment. It is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy under Award Number DE-EE0002741. The GHPsRUS Project currently is conducting the first-ever nationwide assessment of the U.S. geothermal heat pump (GHP) industry.

Using installation costs in conjunction with heating and cooling loads, geological data, and existing heating and cooling sources, the GHPsRUS Project will estimate in which areas of the country GHPs could most effectively and efficiently provide heating and cooling.

Do you install geothermal loops? If so, consider participating in a survey of ground loop installers. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to 20 minutes, depending on the number of jobs you enter. Information entered is to be kept confidential.

Findings will be delivered to the U.S. Department of Energy and the American public in early 2013, and all reports will be freely available on the GHPsRUS website.
