According to CNN, Mike Evans, a Navy petty officer stationed in Pearl Harbor, recently found what is believed to be the largest cheese puff in the world when he bought a bag of the snacks for his three-year-old son. Approximately the size of a lemon and weighing about half an ounce, the cheese puff he posted on eBay has sparked so much attention it’s become a pop icon, gaining even international fame.
With pranksters bidding into the millions of dollars for the item, eBay cancelled the auction, and Evans ultimately donated his find. Residents in small-town Algona, Iowa, the proud new owners of the giant cheese puff, plan to shellac it, lay it on velvet and put it on display, hoping their new attraction will draw visitors and bolster the local economy.
