Avon Bearings Corp., a manufacturer of large diameter turntable bearings and slewing rings in Avon, OH, announces an increase in their manufacturing capabilities. Construction has begun on a plant addition to house a manufacturing cell capable of producing large diameter turntable bearings and slewing rings up to 240 inches or 6.1 meters in diameter. The expansion is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2001 and the cell operational in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2001.
Common applications for extra large turntable bearings and slewing rings include marine cranes, draglines, mining shovels, stackers and reclaimers, ladle turrets, tunnel boring machines or shield machines, crawler cranes, gun mounts, offshore terminals and mooring systems, shipyard cranes, wind turbines, radar, telescopes and ship loaders and unloaders.
