Small Diameter Hardfacing Wire
HARDERN-Helle CRC2, a high chromium hardfacing wire, now is available in 0.045-inch diameter. With lower current and amperage requirements, it is a potent alloy against severe abrasion. It produces a steady arc with very low spatter and little slag. It can be applied without shielding gas, but use of CO2 will enhance out of position work. Low penetration minimizes base metal dilution, providing a deposit that is high in wear resistant chromium carbides. Typical hardness ranges from 58 to 64 Rockwell C. A 5¿ to 1-inch stickout at 200-250 amps and 24-28 volts is recommended. It is available in 10- and 25-pound spools. Performance Alloys Corp., Jubilee Booth No. 532
