The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 Safe Taps Program is one of 17 federal semifinalists for the 2001 Innovations in American Government Awards. Safe Taps is a volunteer program providing assistance to water suppliers to improve the quality of drinking water at the tap. The award recognizes initiatives at all levels of government that are both original and effective.
