The Dozer 2000 machine guidance system with a new ripping function from Leica Geosystems Inc. uses GPS satellites, augmented with local-area error corrections, to measure the vehicle's position and movement with centimeter-level accuracy. A touch-screen computer in the cab provides the operator with visual guidance, showing the vehicle's motions relative to the predetermined design surface. The ripping guidance in Version 3 of the Dozer 2000 software displays the position and path of the machine during ripping operations and even indicates whether the material has been ripped once or twice.
