The industry goes prime-time.

On the right is project coordinator Gary Mickelson.
A water well drilling project will be featured on an upcoming episode of ABC-TV's “Extreme Makeover - Home Edition” program. The show's producers contacted Gary Mickelson of Jerry & Don's Yager Pump & Well, Petaluma, Calif., about their show's plans to makeover the home of a teenage girl who suffers from an allergy to sunlight. Mickelson, in turn, contacted the California Groundwater Association (CGA) and it was “game on.”

Five CGA contractors and 20 manufacturer/supplier members joined in the effort, which was completed in less than 21⁄2 days. Fisch Bros. Drilling started the drilling. As drilling progressed, crews from Jerry & Don's Yager Pump & Well, Weeks Drilling & Pump and Sonoma County Pump and Well installed pump and filtration equipment. A well test was completed by Ray's Well Testing Service.

CGA manufacturer/supplier members assisting with the project included AMTROL, CETCO, EEC, Goulds Pumps, Grundfos Pumps, Milspec Industries, Pace Supply, Poly Processing, PW Pipe, Western Hydro Corp. and Western Water Products. Others lending their services were H&M Materials, Pardini Water Trucks, Royal Petroleum, Shamrock Concrete and SPL Services.

The show tentatively is scheduled to air on Sunday, October 10 on ABC-TV.

Congratulations to all the CGA members who took part in this project; their efforts reflect favorably on the entire water well industry.

A Model Rig, Indeed

We wanted to share this picture of a model drilling rig that a friend of ours built based on a replica of one of our drilling rigs. Pete Swanson is the name of the man who constructed the rig. He resides in Ashville, N.Y. We thought it might be interesting for other drillers to see, as we were thrilled with the results.

Thanks so much for sharing that. You have a thoughtful and quite talented friend. I have a feeling he'll be wanting to re-record his answering machine's greeting message fairly soon.
