Fifty-four residences with private drinking water wells contaminated by volatile chemicals near Syracuse, N.Y., are being supplied with treatment systems provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Working with the state and county health departments, EPA used its federal hazardous waste cleanup program Superfund to arrange for the immediate delivery of bottled water and then installed treatment systems to address this groundwater contamination threat.
