The underground construction and rehabilitation industry has something to look forward straightaway in the upcoming year - the eighth annual Underground Construction Technology (UCT) International Conference & Exhibition, to be held Jan. 15-17, 2002, at the George R. Brown Convention Hall in Houston. The year's show features an expanded line-up of events and activities, including over 670 exhibits and an inclusive educational program that has an outstanding array of presentations, conferences, symposiums and training sessions.
New this year is a unique rehabilitation experience that will be offered to attendees who visit the UCT RehabZone. A large of area of the exhibition has been set aside and dubbed the "UCT RehabZone," which is a specially designed section that will focus on educating attendees about the swelling rehabilitation needs and demands of both North America and the world, and on the solutions and technologies that are available.
Furthermore, in conjunction with the conference, Missouri Western State College's Engineering Technology Department will again conduct its Horizontal Directional Drilling Operator Training and Certification Program from Jan. 3-12, 2002. The 80-hour operator course provides comprehensive training on virtually all aspects of HDD, including fieldwork, for those interested in becoming a skilled HDD operator or for contractors needing to train HDD personnel. A new offering - HDD Inspector Training and Certification - has been added this year and will be held Jan. 11-13, 2002. This course will focus on the specific needs of inspectors when observing HDD work. All attendees of the schools will receive a complimentary, full-conference pass.
And what would a conference be without a little time to play? The third annual Gulf Coast Trenchless Association UCT Golf Tournament will be held on Jan. 14, 2002, just prior to the conference. All profits from this tournament will help support student scholarships, making it a great way to support education for the trenchless industry.
